Check out Moczybroda, our favorite local craft brewery, and their cool retro bar on wheels—perfect for adding some bohemian flair to your next party at the palace. Wherever you enjoy their brews, just remember to drink responsibly!
Meet Daniel and Magda Ptak, a husband-and-wife duo from Poznań, Poland, who launched Dym i Lustra in 2019—a service-forward, experience-driven mobile cocktail bar and event service that elevates any occasion. From exclusive craft beer and bespoke cocktails for weddings and birthdays to company retreats, they’ve been serving premium drinks at private parties across Poland, turning heads with every pint they pour.
It all started 10 years earlier when Dan began experimenting with home brewing, seeking an alternative to the mass-produced Polish lagers that dominated the market.
What began as bathtub brews soon grew into something much bigger. Their passion for exceptional spirits—and a deepening mastery of brewing techniques—led them to the next step: creating their own Polish craft brewery, MoczyBroda (en: Wet Beard).
MoczyBroda debuted in 2018 with three styles: Pils, Weizen, and American Pale Ale. They then set off in a colorful truck, cruising through beer festivals and winning five awards in their debut year!
Their first beer truck appeared at the festivals: Budka z Piwem. They experimented freely, releasing subsequent styles: sour ale, IPA, session IPA, porter, stout, imperial stout, and more. With each batch, they pushed boundaries—testing new hop varieties, adding fruit, and creating bold, characterful flavors. They also began revisiting archaic styles, including those found in old Scandinavian recipes.
And then the pandemic came. As we know, the entire industry came to a standstill, so it was time to focus all their energy on a new project—something that would keep them busy and inspired.
They began renovating an old Peugeot J7, meticulously analyzing every detail—from the interior layout to the aesthetics. And so, the vision was born: an elegant, retro bar on wheels, featuring terrazzo on the counter, atmospheric lighting, and a stylish, dark green tiled front. Perfect for garden parties and more.
After months filled with dust, sweat, and countless sleepless nights, the transformation was complete. What started as a personal project evolved into a new, refined concept, imbued with its own unique atmosphere and soul.
When restrictions eased, the beautifully restored 1979 Peugeot J7—equipped with four taps for beer and prosecco—hit the road. The first stop? The Palace at Osowa Sien, our one-of-a-kind rental property, where you and your group get exclusive access, transforming the castle into your private home for the duration of your stay.
And when their Peugeot rolled into the palace park for a food truck-inspired wedding, it was love at first sight—and sip—for us.
Sometime after their first event at our fairytale castle in Poland, we began looking for a new local craft beer supplier. Our previous brewery had closed down, and we needed a worthy successor.
We cruised the local festivals and food events until we started noticing the same distinctive, colorful truck that was hard to miss. They were serving up the APYs, Weizens, and Sour Ales they started with, plus (if memory serves) a playful stout and a boldly hopped NEIPA. And then there was the classic Pils—perfectly balanced, refreshing, with a crisp hop note. Every sip hit the spot. And sure, it was 35°C / 95°F outside, but that didn’t matter. Something about the taste was familiar… like the beer we’d had at that wedding at the palace a few years back.
We contacted MoczyBroda online—and that’s when Magda explained the whole story. The team behind the bar is the same team behind MoczyBroda Browar—a small but powerful craft brewery located 100 km / 67 miles from the palace, in historic Poznań.
While we were finalizing the formalities—you know, ordering new glassware, preparing the cellar for what we believe to be one of, if not the best craft beer on this side of Poland—the MoczyBroda team began developing something exceptional. Retro White Label—a collection of classic, yet refined-to-perfection beers that fit perfectly into the atmosphere of the palace.
Because Daniel, Magda, and their head brewer Mateusz believe that true elegance lies in simplicity.
Now, even if their Peugeot isn’t parked at the palace for a garden party or a multi-day event, our guests can still enjoy their craft beers. Retro White Label by MoczyBroda—refined, well-balanced, and effortlessly drinkable—is our exclusive selection of brews, available in the palace cellar.
If you're self-catering in full or part, you can reserve them by the case in advance through our Stock-the-Pantry offer, where local artisans, farmers, and craft beverage producers fill the kitchen with handpicked goods before your arrival.
If you’re opting for our farm-to-table dining experiences throughout your stay, consider adding a self-service craft beer station or a fully stocked beer fridge in the kitchen that—as if by magic—refills itself during your stay (ask for details, it's one of our guests' favourite treats).
And regardless of the experience you opt for—hiring the Peugeot or choosing the self-serve craft beer station—they’re our top pick for beer lovers booking The Palace at Osowa Sien for private overnight group stays and milestone celebrations, looking for a premium craft brew with authentic local character.
The Palace at Osowa Sien is typically available for private group stays but occasionally offers individual suite reservations on a non-exclusive basis. During these stays, guests can enjoy MoczyBroda's Retro White Label beer—whether as a welcome drink, from the cellar, or as part of a terrace or park picnic.
And since their beer is really good, we couldn’t resist and did a quick Q&A with Dan and Piotr—the faces of the brewery—to talk about the philosophy of MoczyBroda, what they are currently brewing, and what they like to drink the most. [Read that article here.]
Cheers!
