The Weichselkirschen suite draws on the deep reds and browns of sour cherries that grow in the fields and farms surrounding the castle. This rich palette is paired with restored original wooden beams, timeless wooden furnishings, and bohemian accents like dried grasses and a woven glass-covered coffee table. A plush light gray sofa completes the space, blending rustic charm with modern elegance for a truly inviting atmosphere.
Historical Background:
Inspired by Leonie Ossowski’s Weichselkirschen (Sour Cherries), this suite reflects themes of reconnection and change. The novel follows Anna, who returns to her childhood home decades later, facing both the physical changes around her and the emotional weight of her past. That same interplay between memory and the present is woven into the suite’s design, where historic details meet modern comfort.
Like Anna, Ossowski herself returned to Osowa Sien years after being forced to leave. Her novel is deeply personal, blending fiction with her own journey. The suite’s restored wooden beams nod to the castle’s enduring history—just as Anna’s homecoming reconnects her to her roots. As Ossowski once wrote: “The things we leave behind don’t disappear; they wait for us to return, changed by time but never forgotten.”
