Holunderzeit

Design Inspirations:

The Holunderzeit suite draws on the vibrant hues of elderflowers found in the palace park—rich purples, lilacs, and turquoise. Restored original wooden beams bring rustic charm, beautifully contrasting with modern furnishings to create a harmonious blend of historical character and contemporary comfort.

Historical Background:

Inspired by Leonie Ossowski's Holunderzeit (Elderflower Time), this suite embodies themes of reconnection and personal history. In the novel, Anna (modeled after Leonie), a Berlin journalist, returns to her rural hometown after 40 years, confronting unresolved conflicts with her daughter and figures from her past. The story explores the intricate ties between past and present, a theme subtly reflected in the suite’s thoughtful design.

The restored beams honor the castle’s history, much like Anna’s journey reconnects her with her roots. With its seamless mix of historical details and modern amenities, the Holunderzeit suite offers guests a tranquil space for reflection and relaxation.
